Does Your Computer Have the Auto-Runs?

Computers are good and fast these days, but they're still not meant to have a zillion programs all starting when you boot up the computer. The more programs set to automatically run at start up on a computer, the longer it takes to start your computer up.

Any number of small programs and preloaded software that might have come on your computer can be set to Auto Run in the background-- you don't even know they're there if you don't know where to look.

In short-- your computer can start up really, really slow. These programs can also cause the computer to run slow, and freeze at times. Don't get this wrong and start shutting stuff down if you happen to know where to look: There are a lot of necessary programs needed at a computer's startup, but then there are others that just don't need to be there.

Want to know what's running on your computer and what it is?
AutoRuns is a free software program by shows you what programs are configured to run at boot up or login, shows you the order in which Windows processes them, and can be configured for other locations like Explorer, toolbars and the registry. It's like msconfig on steroids!

AutoRuns software makes disabling the unwanted startups as easy as a click. With this program you won't be sitting there staring at the msconfig Startup tab with your face all screwed up while you try and figure out if unchecking issch will blowup your computer or not.

This is also a good way of tracking down malware, spyware, trojans and adware that can be causing problems. Shut down the startup of malware programs and you're on your way to getting them off your computer.

Serious rule of thumb: if in doubt, DON'T.
Don't shut down anything that you're not sure about. There is tons of information on the internet, and usually just typing in a program name into a search engine can bring up numerous results giving information about what the program is, does and what best to do with it.
