I've received some guff about my obsession with this genre of movie trailer spoof and re-cuts, but I'm sorry there is something hypnotic about it all. Take a movie, any movie, some skill and talent with editing software and you have yourself a brilliant "Inception Style" trailer.
Now what does this have to do with technology? A lot.
The ease to create theater quality trailers is at the fingertips of anyone with an ounce of gumption and/or devotion. Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects and even Microsoft Movie Maker can enable the common to create the uncommon.
Few can say that the trailers for Christopher Nolan films like The Dark Knight and Inception were not impressive. Take a comedy and set it to the dramatic music of Zack Hemsey and you have Dumb and Dumber Inception Style or Office Space Inception Style.
Of course those are some of the most popular 'Inception' style trailers out there, but there are new ones cropping up every day. No, this doesn't seem to be a fickle 'Brokeback Mountain' spoof genre that fades, but picks up speed as more and more recut obscure and uniquely appropriate films are done in this style.
Here is are some our favorite lesser viewed, yet notiable 'Inception' style trailer recuts:
The Shining - Inception Style
Oh Brother Where Art Thou Inception Style
Honorable Mentions...
