Google Search Tools and Tricks

Some times finding information is so simply you might not even realize just how easy it is. Google search is a perfect example of this, with several exceptionally easy and useful little tools.

Currency converter, world time and weather, movie start times and more are just a simple search away in Google...

Google Calculator

Open the Google search web page, type in a calculation, press enter. Simple as that.

Google Currency Converter

Type in your currency amount, the type, and what you want to convert it to...
Don't forget to the use "to" between the two types of currency.

What time is it?
Type in "Time:" and the city name into the Google search box to get the current time in any world city.

Now that you know the time, how's the weather in another city?

Again, just type in "Weather:" and the city name to get the current weather conditions in another city.

Hey, the weather's great, and you know the time, now how about a movie?

Type in a movie title and the city in the Google search box, and get back times and locations for that film. This also works with movie title and zip or postal codes.

Now for something geeky and complex, and quite possibly illegal somewhere... Finding music using the search box...
Turn Google into your own version of LimeWire with a series of advanced search operators (don't freak out, I've provided the code here, just cut and paste it).

Go ahead, try this search for Coldplay tracks: -inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) "Coldplay". You can exchange your own band for the one used here (Coldplay).

So there you go, five nice little tricks for finding information insanely easy in Google. Have fun testing these out, and if you know more, feel free to post a comment!
