Font Junky's Delight: AMP Font Viewer

Searching for a great way to organize and control all those hundreds of fonts you've been collecting? AMP Font Viewer is what every font junky and topographile needs to sort through the flotsam and jetsam.

AMP Font Viewer is just one of several free utilities offered on the AMPsoft site. Donations are welcomed though. AMP Font Viewer is an easy and powerful font manager, showing both installed and non installed fonts, install and uninstall fonts, and organize fonts into categories.

This program saved my sanity when it came to taming the many fonts that I've collected for projects and just because they were so dang awesome I couldn't let them go.

As listed on the AMPsoft site, here are some of the features offered by AMP Font Viewer:

  • Supports TrueType and OpenType fonts.
  • Supports Type1 fonts.
  • Installation of fonts from a folder (one by one or from a list).
  • Installation of fonts temporally (until the program is closed).
  • Deletion of installed fonts.
  • List of all installed fonts with several display options.
  • List of the fonts from a folder with several display options.
  • Several options for organizing fonts in categories and managing them.
  • It can print a list of all or some of the installed fonts with an example of each font.
  • Scratchpad area for testing the look of any font (installed or from a folder).
  • Dual English/Spanish version.
The program is small and works flawless, and actually is so easy to use I installed and organized many fonts with so little effort, I hesitated and wondered what more I needed to do to finish.

Definitely look into AMPsoft's other programs and web design tips - which includes a great list of common fonts in Windows and the Mac equivalents.
